Gireesh Rajashekara makes iAGRI visit to Sokoine University of Agriculture

Gireesh Rajashekara, DVM, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Food Animal Health Research Program (FAHRP) at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, recently visited Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Mororogo, Tanzania as a part of his involvement in the Ohio State-led Innovative Agricultural Research Initiative (iAGRI). Dr. Rajashekara is the U.S. advisor to a current graduate student at SUA, Isaac Kashoma, who completed a 6 month research program at FAHRP from September 2014 – March 2015.
During his visit in early July, Dr. Rajashekara delivered a presentation entitled "Foodborne pathogens: Current issues and novel control strategies" to more than 40 faculty and students at SUA's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He also met with a number of key faculty members in Veterinary Medicine to discuss different research projects they are working on and to explore potential avenues for collaborations between SUA and Ohio State.
