Piketon, Wooster Soil and Veterinary Preventive Medicine Scientists Promote Climate-Smart Ag, Much More via Kazakhstan Cooperation

Dr. Rafiq Islam, director of the Soil Water & BioEnergy program at OSU’s South Centers in Piketon  Renukaradhya Gourapura, Professor at the CFAES Food Animal Health Research Program and the Veterinary Preventive Medicine Dept.

CFAES and Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) are working together in many areas including having submitted four research proposals more than a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles.

Dr. Rafiq Islam, director of the Soil Water & BioEnergy program at OSU’s South Centers in Piketon, was involved in several projects, including a grant writing workshop.  Renukaradhya Gourapura, Professor at the CFAES Food Animal Health Research Program and the Veterinary Preventive Medicine Department, hosted Dr. Kaissar Tabynov, Head of the International Center for Vaccinology at KazNARU this time last year, working on cattle vaccines.  They have funding from the government of Kazakhstan for developing a COVID-19 vaccine for preclinical studies.
